Olivia Rose Akers became involved in the work of the Friends of Ballona because of her lifelong passion for wildlife and nature, and desire to keep the wetlands thriving and accessible to all. 

 Olivia also serves on the board of The Tow Foundation, which is dedicated to enacting innovative solutions in the fields of civic engagement, public health, equity & justice, higher education, and arts & culture. 

 Olivia graduated from Columbia University with a degree in Sociology and works in marketing at Amazon Prime Video. She lives in Playa del Rey with her husband Tommy and dog Baxter, who enjoys frequent walks along Ballona Creek.
