BE A WETLAND WARRIOR
Step out of the office and into the last coastal wetland in Los Angeles County. Your company can give back to the community by participating in restoration events at the Ballona Wetlands Ecological Reserve.
The Friends offer a range of tours and volunteer experiences that align with your corporate philanthropic and team building priorities. Activities include removing non-native vegetation that threaten the reserve’s health, planting native plants to reestablish a healthy ecosystem, cleaning up trash along the creek, and maintaining trails so students from our “Explore Ballona!” education program can learn about wetland ecology.
Don’t sweat the details! We got this.
Let us help you, we’ve done this before. We’ll take care of everything needed to provide your employees with a fun and fulfilling volunteering experience – from prepping the site to providing all tools, work gloves, and materials. Our Staff will give an overview of the project and provide expert training and guidance throughout the event.
Find the right volunteer event for your group.
Visit our Calendar to see if there are any scheduled tours or volunteer events that work for your group. Corporate groups up to 20 are welcome to join any volunteer event or tour that is open to the public. The Friends also offer private weekday volunteer events and tours for corporate groups.
To register, check availability on your preferred date, or if you have questions, please contact Patrick Tyrrell.

For each sponsorship, you will receive recognition and branding that will be tailored to meet your corporate and philanthropic objectives. We pride ourselves on developing real partnerships that offer mutual benefits at all levels of participation.
Friends of Ballona Wetlands is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation that depends on donations from supporters and sponsors like you. For more information about sponsoring an event or donating, please contact Executive Director Scott Culbertson.

Sturdy close-toed shoes are required. We recommend dressing in layers that you don’t mind getting a bit dirty, and wearing long pants to help protect against prickly plants. A hat is also recommended.
-
Please bring a full reusable water bottle to stay hydrated. We will provide all other materials and supplies necessary for habitat restorations and creek cleanups, though volunteers may bring their own gloves if desired.

The Ballona Salt Water Marsh does not have its own address. We meet in the dirt parking lot behind Gordon’s Market/Alka Water at 303 Culver Blvd in Playa del Rey.
-
Donations are not required, though they are always much appreciated and are used to support our restoration and education programs. We defer to your company’s charitable giving policies.
