Community Planting Day at the Freshwater Marsh

  • Ballona Wetlands Freshwater Marsh 13300 West Jefferson Boulevard Los Angeles, CA, 90094 United States (map)

Join us in planting CA native plants to rehabilitate the Freshwater Marsh for wildlife and nature lovers!

Register Here

The Freshwater Marsh needs YOUR help to heal! We reopened the Jefferson Trail in October and are excited to plant more native plants to add to this beautified space!

Registration: Registration is required. You must also sign the digital waiver and watch the instructional safety video before the event.

Ages: We will be working in an ecologically sensitive area, this is not an event for young children. Youths 16 and under should be accompanied by an adult.

What to wear: Close-toed shoes are required! We recommend dressing in weather-appropriate layers that you don’t mind getting a bit dirty, along with a hat. Long pants are also recommended to protect against occasional prickly plants.

What to bring: Bring your own gardening gloves and trowel if you already own one. Bring full water bottle to stay hydrated. There are no water fountains or bathrooms on-site. We will provide all other tools and supplies.

Parking: Parking is limited; please carpool. We will send out instructions to registrants on parking before the event.

Covid-19 Protocols: We recommend that participants comply with applicable public health COVID-19 safety guidelines.

Cancellations: For safety, we must cancel if it’s raining. Please check the weather before arriving. If you’re not sure, please call us or check our social media for cancellation announcements.

Donations: The suggested donation is $5 per person. By donating online or at our events, you can keep helping with restoration even after you leave! Free tours and restoration events are made possible by the efforts and donations of kindhearted people just like you.

Thank you for volunteering with us.
We literally couldn’t do it without you!
