Friends of Ballona Wetlands Receives Funding from UCLA Philanthropy as Civic Engagement Course!

We are so grateful to share that the Friends of Ballona Wetlands have been selected as one of the 2025 UCLA Philanthropy as Civic Engagement Grant Recipients! The Friends were selected to receive the grand prize of $40,000, which will be used to fund bus scholarships to bring students from Title 1 Schools to the wetlands for Explore Ballona! Field Trips, our Explore Ballona! Nature Camp, Community Outreach efforts, and Restoration Events!

This funding was received after working with students from the UCLA Philanthropy as Civic Engagement class. Over 10 weeks, these students worked with the Friends to come on a site visit, learn about programming, and see what a large impact a small nonprofit can have on the community. 

We are so grateful to the UCLA Philanthropy as Civic Engagement class for their interest and investment in our organization!
